Hoodies are known within the Web3 community to be builders. People who grab the bull by the horns, make lemons out of lemonade, and don’t take no for an answer. Hoodie builders are solution-oriented individuals, utilizing their hearts and minds to create amazing products, services, and epic innovations to make a positive impact in the world.

Today we have the pleasure of introducing the OCM Hoodie Club, founded in early 2023 by Conquistador86, a brilliant and well-known OnChainMonkey community member since January of 2022. In addition, 4 Hoodie Club members joined the call to talk about their journey in Web3, each speaking from their own unique life experience.

What is the OCM Hoodie Club?

The OCM Hoodie Club is a group of builders within the Web3 space, OCM specifically to start, that all have a raw passion for growth while working together in a unified and collaborative arena. The idea behind the club is to bring talented builders to the table, showcasing how each person can contribute their skills and abilities towards a particular need, task, or online project.

The OCM Hoodie Club began in January 2023 with a handful of monkeys from within the OCM community. Though Conquistador86 is the mastermind behind the club, he is joined by an amazing group of people who see the value in what the Hoodie club is doing not only within OCM, but also inside Web3 communities as a whole.

CandyViz, BryanOCM, RedHotPink88, and OCMJayB joined in on the call, but there are even more awesome Hoodie Club members whom we didn’t meet yet are deeply involved with the initiative.

Who can join/participate in the Hoodie Club?

It’s funny because originally, we at OCM Magazine believed you had to own a hoodie monk (clothes 11) to be initiated into the Hoodie Club. Conquistador quickly helped us realize that is not the case and, on the contrary, builders from far and wide are indeed welcome to participate.

Creators, artists, graphic designers, software engineers, and teachers among many others will be able to create their own profiles to showcase what they specialize in. As a result, those who are looking for specific skills from a particular community or builder can visit the Hoodie Club site to easily search and contact a Hoodie member.

From a builder’s vantage point, visibility is key to being discovered online. It’s important to know “who’s who” and “what’s what” without being forced to scour through miles of Discord text, only to possibly discover the information you’re looking for.

During the video call, CandyViz performs a live demonstration of what the website currently looks like (18:54), as well as what the plans are moving forward. The Hoodies have formed an indestructible alliance and are actively utilizing their skillsets to bring this vision to life.

Each builder will have their own profile complete with their name and chosen PFP on the front. Once clicked on, the profile then expands to display info on the Hoodie member’s background, how they can best add value, and what they are currently working on. Not only that, but they can also be sent flaming bananas! (more details on that as launch approaches)

The Vision of the OCM Hoodie Club

The OCM Hoodie Club has bigger plans than initially meets the eye. Right now, the club is being formulated within the bosom of the OCM community, but later it will branch out to involve other hoodie builders from the greater Web3 space.

Conquistador expresses a big piece of the vision in the following statement…

“as we build this out and others join this network, it’s going to be one of the most powerful networks of builders within Web3. I’m really excited about that.”

In the near future, he would like to see an experience level, or trust system if you will, allocated to each member. Levels would be a similar concept to how eBay has their seller levels in order for buyers to feel confident in their purchases. As time goes on, after it builds out even further, the goal is to have the club led by the community of builders themselves and eventually… run on its own.

How Can Someone Get Involved?

The OCM Hoodie Club recently won an ETH grant via the Small Grants Committee and are making progress towards their MVP release. Once that is close to being ready, they are going to be onboarding a handful of builders to the platform to further test the waters. After that, the club is planning on performing a formal launch to the entire community.

In the meantime, BryanOCM and CandyViz both ask interested parties to reach out to one of the existing Hoodie members via Twitter or Discord with questions on getting involved with the club. In other words, don’t hesitate to contact them with your ideas and/or a project that you would like to shed additional light upon.

RedHotPink88 is proud of her husband, Conquistador86, for what he is building along with the other club members. If it wasn’t for him and for the OCM community, she most likely wouldn’t be involved in the Web3 space today.

“The community is what brought me into this space. I love OCM, but I love it even more now because my husband is building and doing something great. I am so proud of him.”

Closing Remarks

Having the OCM Hoodie Club join us was fun, enlightening, and exciting as they continue to grow and build out this amazing powerhouse of Web3 builders. We at OCMM are in full support of what they are doing and of what they hope to accomplish in the future.

With the website portal under construction, it is only a matter of time before it goes live. We encourage all hoodie builders to participate in what this club is putting together. Not only will it help you personally as a hoodie builder, but it will assist those who are searching for the type of products/services you offer.

Whether you wear hoodies in real life or not, the OCM Hoodie Club wants to welcome you and help you become known to the OCM community as well as the broader Web3 space.
