OCM DAO Small Grants Committee - Full Interview

You know the saying, “Your network is your net worth”? We at OCM Magazine now feel that our net worth has gone through the roof after speaking with the OCM DAO Small Grants Committee.

This group of fantastic individuals is a force to be reckoned with as they each serve as elected officials, acting on behalf of the OnChainMonkey community. For those in search of seed funding to fuel a good idea, these are the folks to speak with for solid advice.

On-Camera Video Discussion with the SGC

Find out who the Small Grants Committee members are and why we love them so much.

What is the Small Grants Committee all about?

“The SGC is about empowering our members through funding and support to further initiatives that they feel passionate about and also benefit the OCM community and brand.” -Sofia

Sofia Vaschetto made it clear that the SGC provides opportunities where there previously were none with the goal of incentivizing positive, collective action. The SGC is in continuous alignment with the core values of !RISE which are Respect, Integrity, Sustainability, and Enrichment.

“The SGC generates a lot of visibility and just brings the community closer together.” -Joker12

The small grants committee enjoys communicating with the community at ground level, speaking candidly about various questions or concerns people may have. Joker12 goes on to say that, “The network of any NFT project is really the strength of the community. And I think this is an ongoing, continuous way to bond people together.”

As Julian Wahl, DAO Proposal Coordinator, explains to us at OCMM…

Notable SGC grant winners

J went around and asked each SGC member which grant winners come to mind when thinking of ones they really like. Of course, they are all memorable and valuable, but these are the ones in the forefront of their minds:

Mapleleaf says:

OCM Poker Club and Manuela Jungo (Kitesurfer)

Julian says:

Rise.Edu by OCMBryan

Joker12 says:

HeavyD’s creations and Ape DAO’s Beyond the Swamp Magazine placing OCM into the first edition (supported entirely in bananas)

JayB says:

He likes them all and is excited to see what people do with the activations. He also mentions that he is a bit biased, but, the Hoodie Club is doing some really cool things.

Sofia says:

The Hoodie Club, Content and Media factory, OCM Brazil group, NFT Canvases, Flextag

What’s on the horizon for the SGC?

Joker12 explains that this quarter has transformed the way in which things have been allocated.

He says that there is,

“Just like a maturity”

occurring within the SGC. “So while the props themselves are coming in while things are being built, I see an ongoing path for the SGC and the DAO as a whole”.

Organization seems to be a major part of what the SGC is working on. That same sentiment holds true for the entire OCM DAO. Even though OnChainMonkey is less than 2 years old at the time of this writing, the project has taken major strides forward to build something truly special that sturdily stands the test of time.

JayB encourages anybody who has thoughts on where this DAO should be going to raise a prop, a submission, or get in touch with the right people. (aka the SGC)

What should people do before applying for a small ETH grant?

“Get involved and people will notice”, says JayB. In his past experience, getting involved took place around Monkey Misfit where he helped team up with Hippoart in Season 1. Finding a way to interact with others in the community, to him, is the best way forward.

In other words, do not be afraid to put yourself and your idea out there to be seen. The community needs to recognize what it is you have to offer and provide helpful feedback. Any person on the SGC would be happy to speak with you regarding any questions or concerns you may have with your idea or project.

“Start somewhere.”

We would like to thank the Small Grants Committee for joining us. It is always a treat to see these folks, some of which we had the pleasure of meeting in person in New York City. OCM Magazine cannot wait to see how the SGC evolves and what projects they support in the future.

And remember, as always…

Keep your eyes… on the !RISE
